Welcome

If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata you may be feeling overwhelmed and alone. You're not! The San Diego Alopecia Areata Support Group brings together individuals and families living with Alopecia Areata and provides information and support.

While Alopecia Areata is not life threatening nor debilitating, it is life altering. Our goal is to help others live well with Alopecia Areata.

Many Thanks to the Junior League of San Diego for 2 Great Events - The Wiggin' Out Fundraiser was a big success and the Day of Beauty/Pampering brought smiles & a boost of confidence to all our attendees

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata (al-oh-PEE-shah air-ee-AH-tah) is a highly unpredictable, autoimmune skin disease resulting in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. This common but  capricious disease affects approximately 1.7 percent of the population overall, including more than 5 million people in the United States alone. Due largely to the fact that much of the public is still not familiar with Alopecia Areata, living with this condition can have a profound impact on one's life.
